Museum of Reserve Officers in Serres
Dedicated to the institution of the reserve officer
The Museum of Reserve Officers in Serres was founded by the Reserve Officers Association of Serres (SEAN Serres) and is the only museum in Greece dedicated to the institution of the reserve officer, as well as the city’s only military museum. It was inaugurated on November 8, 2024, by Archbishop George of Cyprus and Metropolitan Theologos of Serres.
Its purpose is to highlight the contribution of reserve officers to modern Greek history, to preserve the memory of those who sacrificed their lives—especially from Serres and Cyprus—and to serve as an educational space promoting military culture and historical knowledge.
The museum showcases the evolution of the reserve officer institution over the past 100 years. It features exhibitions on the Forts of Rupel, the 731 Hill (19th Infantry Regiment of Serres), heroic reserve figures, and major historical events such as the Balkan Wars, the 1940 campaign, the 1974 Cyprus conflict, and World War II. It also emphasizes the evolution of the Greek officer’s uniform over the last century.
